These filters are expensive compared to inferior grocery store transparently-thin filters but they a different thing entirely. I bought 300 (3 packs) of these to save on shipping. They take up far more space than you would think because they are made of quality paper. They fit great, they are the best filters I have used. They don't have any offensive smell, dry or wet. I may have overdone it on quantity but overall I'm happy. It seems like Bona Vita and me live by the same mantra "if it's worth doing, it's worth over-doing."
